Day 1B Adds Momentum as International and Filipino Players Chase Main Event Glory
By August 7, the APPT Manila Main Event had moved into its second starting flight, with Day 1B underway at Okada Manila.
The tournament schedule called for Day 1B to begin at noon, with the same ₱80,000 buy-in and ₱60 million guarantee as the other starting flights.
Live coverage recorded 348 entries in Day 1B after registration closed for that flight, providing another substantial contribution toward the overall Main Event field.
The flight attracted attention from some of the Philippines’ leading tournament players. Coverage from the venue noted that three players occupying the top positions on the country’s all-time money list were participating in Day 1B.
That international and domestic mix has been a recurring feature of APPT Manila.
The festival has attracted established Asian professionals alongside Filipino tournament regulars, creating fields in which local players regularly compete against experienced international opposition.
With Day 1C and Day 1D still ahead, the Main Event remained far from decided. The surviving players from each opening flight are scheduled to return for Day 2 on August 9 before the tournament reaches its final day on August 10.
