APPT Manila Main Event Heads Into the Bubble With ₱15.53 Million Waiting at the Top
The pressure will increase dramatically as APPT Manila Main Event Day 2 progresses.
From the original 1,413 entries, only 269 players remain. But there is another important number hanging over the tournament: 207.
That is the number of players who will make the money.
In other words, 62 players will leave the tournament without a payout before the bubble bursts.
Once the money is reached, every remaining player will be guaranteed at least ₱128,000. But the difference between surviving and reaching the final stages becomes enormous as the payout ladder climbs toward the top prize of ₱15,530,000.
At the top of the leaderboard is Joungsun Kim, who begins Day 2 with 855,000 chips.
Behind him are Cezar Quiambao and Wesley Zikai Huang with 484,000 each, followed by Seung Hyun Han, Jonald Garcia and several other players carrying substantial stacks.
The tournament also contains players with APPT history, including former Main Event champion Xiong Cheng and former APPT Championship winner Minwoong Jeong.
But with so many players still alive, nothing has been decided.
The bubble will be the first major test. After that, the race toward the final table—and ultimately the ₱15.53 million APPT Manila Main Event title—will begin in earnest.
The record has already been broken. Now the players have to decide who gets to write the final chapter.
