Joungsun Kim Leads 269 Survivors Into APPT Manila Main Event Day 2
The race for the APPT Manila Main Event title enters its next stage today, with 269 players returning for Day 2 at Cove Manila.
Leading the field is Joungsun Kim, who finished Day 1A with a massive 855,000-chip stack, equivalent to 171 big blinds at the start of Day 2.
Kim holds a significant lead over the players immediately behind him.
Cezar Quiambao and Wesley Zikai Huang both return with 484,000 chips, while Seung Hyun Han sits fourth with 445,000. Filipino player Jonald Garcia is also among the leaders with 432,000.
The top 10 includes players representing several countries, including the Philippines, South Korea, China, Australia, Japan and Greece.
But despite the impressive stacks at the top, the immediate objective for much of the field is simply to reach the money.
Of the 269 survivors, only 207 players will cash, meaning 62 players must be eliminated before the bubble bursts. The minimum payout is ₱128,000, while the eventual champion will collect ₱15.53 million.
Day 2 is scheduled to feature 60-minute levels, giving the remaining players plenty of room for deep-stack tournament play.
