How Gods of Poker Was Founded
Gods of Poker (GOP) was officially launched in 2025 with the goal of creating a new generation of live poker festivals centered on fairness, innovation, and community. The tour was founded by veteran tournament director Lloyd Fontillas, whose decades of experience organizing poker events across Asia helped shape the vision for the brand.
According to the organization, the idea behind GOP was to restore the “community spirit” that many players felt had diminished as tournament poker expanded globally. Rather than focusing solely on prize pools, the tour emphasizes quality tournament structures, player experience, and hospitality.
Today, Gods of Poker has grown into a regional tour with stops across South Korea, Taiwan, Cambodia, the Philippines, and other Asian markets.
